Punctospirifer was first described by North in 1920. In existed from 376 until 252.3 million years ago. It went extinct during the Permian Extinction. I believe my identification of this species is likely correct, but I’m not good with this type of Brachiopod. Upon seeing the large double grove and the shape, I quickly come to my conclusion.

The fossil, made of eroded softened reddish limestone, was a fragile find. While attempting to remove the specimen from the matrix, the material was soft. Accordingly, the following photos are from before I completed removal of the specimen.
