Catalog Number: CG-0004

This specimen of Cephalopod, CG-0004, belongs to the genus Metacoceras. I first assumed Tainoceras, yet, that genus does not occur in the Brush Creek Limestone.

A good deal of time was spent using an air scribe to take the piece from the first photo in the gallery to get to the last three photos. I discovered a few blunt spines hidden under the limestone. Unfortunately, eroded limestone makes up the top portion. It is fragile in comparison with the rest of the specimen. Nevertheless, the specimen was easy to find as the eroded portion, shown brown in the photos, stuck out of the side of the limestone slab.
